Does Australia have catfish?

Yes.  We have the Eel-tailed Catfish (Tandanus tandanus), a freshwater fish native to the Murray-Darling river system of eastern Australia.

Are there puffer fish in Australia?

Yes, in Australia we have the Smooth Toadfish (Tetractenos glaber) which is a species in the pufferfish family Tetraodontidae.  Not a very popular catch as the toadfish is highly poisonous due to the tetrodotoxin in its body, eating may result in death.
