- Belong to the family Sparidae (sea breams)
- Can grow to 50cm in length and 4kg in weight
- Referred to as Silver Bream in WA
- Distinguishing horizontal yellow lines and a rounded forehead
- Not to be mistaken for Black Bream (Acanthopagrus butcheri)
- Frequents estuaries, bays, beaches and inshore reef environments
- Found in Australia’s cooler waters from QLD to WA
- Lives for at least 12 years
- Soft to touch
- Often found in large schools
- Carnivorous
- Target with fleshy baits such as peeled prawns, pippies, fish or fillet baiits
- Good eating
