- Can grow to 50cm in length
- Similar looking to it’s eastern equivalent the Eastern Wirrah (Acanthistius ocellatus)
- Frequents coastal reef environments
- Bottom-dwelling, often seen hanging in caves and under ledges
- Found in Australia’s western temperate waters from southern WA to SA
- Occurs solitary
- Poor eating
